LeBron Makes His First Public Apperance In Northeast Ohio

Posted on: August 7, 2010

Two-time NBA MVP LeBron James made his first public appearance in northeast Ohio since announcing his decision to play for the Miami Heat instead of resigning with the Cleveland Cavaliers.

James was the headliner at his annual “King for Kids Bike-A-Thon” in the city of Akron Saturday.

The bike-a-thon is one of the major events James, who is a native of Akron, holds in the city every year to benefit kids.

Although the bike-a-thon was scaled back this year, thousands still turned out for the celebration event that also recognizes area youth.

James led a one-mile bike ride throughout the city. Following the ride, a taping of Nickelodeon’s show “Brain Surge” occurred.
